I didn’t know which books are classics, so I did a little research (by Google, of course). According to the lists I found, classic books are published no later than 1950. Notable classic authors are Jules Verne, William Shakespeare, Charles Dickens, Mark Twain, Jane Austen, and Louisa May Alcott.
Some of these titles might on your memory: Little Women, Pride and Prejudice, Jane Eyre, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Pinnochio, The Hunchback of Notre-Dame, Romeo and Juliet, The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Huckeberry Finn, and Around the World in Eighty Days.
I haven’t read all of them. I only remember Little Women, Pride and Prejudice, Jane Eyre, Romeo and Juliet. Maybe I have read some more, but those are the books I remembered.
My favorite is Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. A story about sisters of four: Meg the beauty, Jo the tomboy (and suspiciously is a representation of Louisa herself), Beth the shy, and Amy the cheerful. The story itself focused on Jo, but the other sisters looks balanced in the story.
The book was a hit at that time, followed by Good Wives, Little Men, and Jo’s Boys. A heartwarming story after all.
